Highbridge and District Dog Training Club
About the Club
The Highbridge & District Dog Training Club has been in existence for several years now and has met almost continuously in Apex Park - next to the River Brue and between Highbridge and Burnham on Sea in Somerset.
|About the club||
Many breeds are represented - pedigree dogs, cross-breeds and plain old "57 Varieties" type dogs.
Most meetings are given over to standard training - basic commands and basic obedience work. Weather permitting - we sometimes set up the agility apparatus and all dogs have the opportunity to use the apparatus as appropriate for their age and size.
If you are considering joining the club, then we charge a registration fee of £3.00 and a subscription of £2.00 per week thereafter. Owners pay only on attendance - there is no payment made in case of absence.
At the end of most meetings we allow our dogs to run free and this is sometimes the most enjoyable part of the meeting - dogs are learning to socialise and to practise their "dog etiquette". It doesn't always look very polite though!
Adults and children are welcome to join in and we often have a spare older dog if a young member wishes to take part while Mum or Dad are with Bonzo.
Many members have had dogs for many years and there is always someone to give friendly advice about behaviour, diet, training tips, where to find good walks, toys, treats, how to make home-made treats, where to get a new dog - and much more.
Everyone will say that they have learnt something from being a member of the club. Come along and meet us - we're here almost every Sunday morning, rain or shine.
are close to the Mendips, the Quantocks and the Somerset Levels and
our members come from all across these areas.
